Interest and/or practice of interdisciplinarity:

I’ve always been an ID player in my academic practice, and I nowadays investigate the ideals and practices of ID from a philosophy of science point of view – a perspective that has largely been missing in the recent fuss around ID. My research deals both with general conceptual and methodological issues of ID and with specific issues related to the curious ID relations of economics; see http://www.helsinki.fi/tint/maki/. I am directing the Centre of Excellence in the Philosophy of the Social Sciences [TINT – http://www.helsinki.fi/tint/] that has interdisciplinarity as the shared focus of inquiry. TINT has been identified by the League of European Research Universities (LERU) as an example of high quality interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research undertaken at the LERU member institutions; see p19 of the brochure available at http://www.leru.org/index.php/public/news/leru-showcase-of-excellent-interdisciplinary-ssh-research/.
