Harald Schaller is a Ph.D. candidate within the Department of Geography and Tourism at the University of Iceland. His research project focuses on sustainable tourism management in Iceland with regards to the participation of local communities in protected area management. Topics related to this study are equity in tourism management, governance networks, and public policies for protected areas. It is a project bridging geography with political sciences. He finished the interdisciplinary master’s program in Environment and Natural Resources with a M.Sc. from the department of Industrial Engineering. His thesis dealt with conflict management for stakeholders of protected areas in Iceland and Japan. Before my graduate program he finished his studies in Germany at the Hof University of Applied Sciences with a Diplom Wirtschaftsingenieur (FH).
